The Website Data Uploader is used in cases where the advertiser website information is not being captured by Google Analytics, or the advertiser would prefer not to share access to their account, but they can provide an export of the website traffic information for use with this feature.

The Website Data Uploader allows our clients and partners to upload minute-by-minute web visitation data through our UI, which gives our clients more options and flexibility with how they transmit web visitation data to our platform.

[Note]Use of the Playout Uploader is intended for use of your broadcaster group/network's spots only. Per our license agreements with your organization, we cannot include competitive broadcasters’ data.

Enable the uploader

This tool will be visible in the platform once it is configured for your Org. Pending any necessary sales leadership and Research group approvals, your Customer Success Manager will turn this feature on.

Upload logs

Once the uploader tool is activated for you by Veritone:

  1. In Attribute, click the icon in the left menu and then the Upload button in the upper right corner. The Upload Type screen opens.
[Note]All data should be normalized to UTC timezone prior to upload.
  1. Under Website Analytics, click Select File.

By nature, all rows in a CSV file will be processed. If you are attempting to filter a CSV using Excel or another spreadsheet program, you'll need to export the rows you want to process into a new, clean CSV file and upload that file.

  1. Once you’ve selected your website traffic file you will need to map the data to the advertiser on the platform by selecting it from the dropdown menu highlighted below. If this advertiser has yet to be set up on the platform select “New Advertiser” from the dropdown menu.
  1. Once the advertiser has been selected and created, select and map all the required fields from your file to your data upload: Date, Hour, Minute, GeoCode, Traffic Channel, Sessions, and New Users.

Once the file is uploaded and you have finished mapping your data fields, you will be redirected to the page shown below, which details the files you’ve added to the platform. Within this list of files, you will see key metrics such as record count and date ranges for the available data. New files will take 5-10 minutes to complete processing.

File statuses and icon descriptions

Each file on this page shows an icon next to it. The definition of the icons are below.

  • Processing: Files being processed are indicated by an interactive swirl icon. New files will take 5-10 minutes for the file to complete processing.
  • Complete without errors: Files with this status have completed successfully and are represented with a green checkmark. Once this is completed, you can set up your Advertiser Campaign.
  • Complete with errors: Files with this status have completed, but have errors in the file. This is represented by red exclamation mark. Users can click the icon and go to an Error Report.
  • Complete with duplications: Files with this status have completed, but have duplicate records in the file. This is represented by a yellow exclamation mark. Users can click on the icon and see how many records were unique vs. considered duplicates. To keep your data sound, the platform will not accept duplicate records from being uploaded.

Next, set up advertisers and campaigns:
